30 Day Makeup Challenge Day 1

Hey people! I ran across a cute makeup challenge on LearningBeaut‘s blog and decided to join the challenge. I thought about waiting until a new month to start the challenge but, why? So here we go!

When did you start putting on makeup?

After college. I know, late bloomer. My family was pretty male dominated when I was younger. I had no female cousins to sit and kee kee with and learn how to do my makeup with. My mom, aunts, and grandmother did not wear makeup and there was no YouTube. So, yeah. No where to turn on how to get into the makeup thing. Also, when I grew up makeup was not what it is now. It was much heavier. The first time I ever wore makeup was prom and I HATED it. It felt so heavy and cakey. My skin felt like it could not breathe! I could just feel the pimples forming on my face all night. So after prom, I never wore makeup again until after I graduated college.

After graduating college, I got close with a friend who always looked flawless. Homegirl’s face was always shining, shining, shining, shining. No blemishes, even toned skin, she looked like she’d been kissed by the sun every time I saw her. So one day I told her I wanted to start playing in makeup. She took me to the Bobbi Brown counter at one of our local malls, and the rest is history!

Thank you friend for opening my eyes to the wonderful world of makeup (and skincare)!

I love that you’re doing this challenge; it’s so fun! As I mentioned before, I’ve been wearing makeup for YEARS (thank you dance competitions) but it wasn’t until my junior year of high school when I actually started wearing makeup to school, it was subtle but it was still there.
