What’s In A Name

You may be wondering why M. Morris? Where in the world did that come from?

As every other person on the planet who’s started a blog or website I racked my brain trying to come up with something catchy. I tried combing this name and that name, backwards and forwards. At one point I thought I had finally struck gold only to find out that it was not available. I was disappointed and forced to go back to the drawing board. Looking back, this was the best thing that could have happened.

As I re-approached the situation I took a moment to step back and really think what I wanted in a name. I didn’t want anything that sound like a store. I didn’t want anything that sound like a blog either. What I was looking for was something ambiguous. Something that would capture an internet surfers attention but would still be undecipherable from the name.

Enter Major Morris. This was the name of my paternal grandfather who always encouraged me to write (along with read and learn an instrument).FullSizeRenderIn fact he used to enjoy my written stories so much he would pay me for every story I wrote. Now I was very young at this time so when I say “pay” I mean $3-$5 depending on how good the story was. I thought I was rolling in dough!!!! Balling!!!! Lol. Anywho, I digress. As I thought about my blog and what I wanted I thought what better way to pay homage to my grandfather than to name my blog after him? AND, let’s face it…….he has a pretty awesome name.
