In March 2017 I’d tried a charcoal purifying vegetable body sponge by the brand Earth Therapeutics. I LOVED IT! Once that sponge was through I never tried another. That is until a few months ago. I received a $5 off coupon from Ulta and decided to go browse the store.
I found myself in the bath aisle face to face with the sponge I’d used a few months back. I notice now that the brand also makes the same sponge specifically for the face. Since they were only $5, I decided to try one of each variety. Three total, the aforementioned vegetable sponge (for the face this time), the konjac green tea sponge, and the collagen konjac sponge. Three sponges for $10? Why not!
Each sponge is good for 30 days. It’s been over 90 days and I’ve tried each and every sponge. At the time of purchase my skin was acting out. I had breakouts around my jawline, chin, and cheeks. Prior to buying the sponges I was using a clean rag daily but it wasn’t changing the status of my skin. I noticed by the time I was done with my first 30 day cycle, my acne breakouts were much less. I’d changed nothing else about my routine other than switching from using a face rag to wash my face to using a facial sponge. By the time I’d finished with my second sponge (60 days in total) my skin was practically clear! I was in shock! How could this $5 sponge have changed my skin so drasticallly. Furthermore why was I just now trying them!
I cannot pretend that I know the magic behind why the sponges worked so well. All I can say is they worked! Over the 90 days the facial cleanser I used was the Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Cleansing Foam (which I found at my local TJ Mxx for the low). I’m pretty confident that any cream cleanser would work with any of the sponges.
I noticed slight differences in each sponge but nothing major. My favorite was the vegetable sponge. It seemed to hold up better than the other two. It also felt slightly firmer than the other two. Next I’d say I enjoyed the green tea konjac sponge. This sponge was a bit gentler, a bit softer on the face and wore down pretty well. Last, but not least was the collagen konjac sponge. This one I didn’t enjoy as much as the previous two. The sponge seemed to wear down much faster and it didn’t have quite the same effect as the green tea or the vegetable sponges.
All in all, I HIGHLY recommend trying out at least one if not all of the Earth Theraputic’s sponges. You will not be disappointed. Be sure to use one of Ulta’s $3.50 off coupons which they send out frequently to get a little more bang for your buck.
