Some Unexpected News

I got some unexpected news today. Initially I was angry. Angry that the information today didn’t match information I was previously told. Information that had me under one assumption and now has completely blindsided me and thrown me for a loop.

As I sit, trying to digest the news I say to myself something that I hear Joel Olsteen say often in his sermons, “As for me and my house, we will continue to serve the Lord.” I repeat this to myself over the next 60 seconds and I realize my anger is starting to subside. I then get online and proceed to do a little research. While the internet is a beautiful thing, all types of information at your fingertips, it can sometimes be too much information at your fingertips. As my emotions start to rise again I close Google and repeat to myself, “As for me and my house, we will continue to serve the Lord.”

My God has answered every prayer that I’ve ever sent up. While it may not have been on my time, it was answered in due time and I must trust that this is no different. As I calm down and the above sentiment starts rolling, crashing to the forefront of my thoughts all I can do is put my head down and pray. Nothing intensive, nothing grandiose. I fold my fingers, place my forehead in the middle of the space between my folded thumbs and my folded index fingers and say a quick prayer, a genuine prayer.

Lord, I know through you all things are possible. You give the most difficult test to your most faithful servants and we are no different. You have answered every prayer that we’ve ever made and I know this will be no different. We will continue to serve you and know that in your time all will be healed. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN

folded hands

While this was not the way I expected my day to go. I believe wholeheartedly that everything will be okay. In the meantime, in-between time AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL CONTINUE TO SERVE THE LORD…..
