These are the audio books I listened to for September and October.
September
- Jaws by Peter Benchley (10 hrs)
- Harry Potter and the Sourcer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling (8 hrs)
October
- 107 Days by Kamala Harris (10 hrs)
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (9 hrs)
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (12 hrs)
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (21 hrs)
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (26 hrs)
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (18 hrs)
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (21hrs)
Quick Thoughts:
- I don’t remember Brody’s wife cheating on him in the movie…….scandalous!
- Although I bought the book, I’m glad I listened to Kamala read the events that unraveled over the last 107 days in her own voice. Hearing the inflections in her voice at different points throughout her retelling, added to the story in a way reading to myself wouldn’t have.
- I can’t believe I made it through all 7 Harry Potter books and all 8 movies in two months! I feel like a spell has been broken. Whew!
- As in most cases, the books are tremendously better than the movies. I didn’t realize how dark, not only in content but visually, the movies are. I felt like I needed to adjust the settings on my tv. The first 2-3 movies follow the books pretty closely. The rest, wow! What a difference. All of the big moments — Harry Kissing Ginny, Hermione kissing Ron, the final battle with Voldemort — felt way more ceremonious in the books.
- I wish Kreacher’s full story arc would’ve have been better reflected in the movies.
- Also, Ginny was That Girl in the books. She felt down played in the movies.
- For as much flack as she got for being studious, Harry (and Ron for that matter) would have died many times over without Hermione. She too was THAT GIRL!
