This week I learned that 3 of my favorite shows had retuned. Imagine my surprise!
As I started up Netflix, what do I see? THE WOLF KING season 2, now available. I recalled seeing a banner on the platform that mentioning season 2 was “coming soon” but I don’t remember ever seeing an exact date. I blew through season 2 in a few days and was sad to learn there wouldn’t be a season 3. The Wolf King was a a phenomenal show. Dealing with themes of acceptance, friendship, love, betrayal, self doubt, power, and so much more. During the first season, I made a mental note that the show was based on books. After digging into whether or not there’d be a season 3, I learned Netflix only planned to do 16 episodes in total. Gearing the show towards a younger audience as later books take a darker turn – I’ll be reading the books. I have already reserved books 1-4 from my local library.

Next I learned Only Murders In The Building came back dropping 3 episodes on September 9th. By the time I learned the show was back, 4 episodes were available with the 5th about to drop. I’ve loved this show from season 1. Some seasons have been more enjoyable than others but overall, I love the show. If you’d like to see my video recaps of the show click here.

The last show I was surprised to learn was back was High Potential. I don’t think I even knew the show had been renewed for a second season, let alone the premier date. I happened to notice a marathon one night and decided to turn it on in the background. When I looked up, I saw a note in the bottom right-hand corner of my television notating the shows return THE VERY NEXT DAY. “Um, what!?” Was the first thing that crossed my mind.

There are few shows recently that I’ve seen/heard a lot of promotion for. I’m wondering why? What has shifted in entertainment, specifically television that has caused the shift in promotion? I remember when networks made sure you knew what was coming back and when far in advance.
Have ya’ll noticed the same thing?
