Hey People!
I finally got my hands on the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation. I couldn’t wait to wear it. All the reviews I read and videos I watched praised the $5.99 foundation. I was a bit skeptical for 2 reasons. 1. I am a black woman and usually it’s hard for me to find a drugstore foundation that fits my undertones without a lot of manipulation. 2. If I do find one, typically there is some ingredient in it that irritates my skin or causes breakouts. The Wet n Wild foundation did neither. Plus it actually matched my skin tone. Hurray!
I decided to film me applying my makeup for the day using the Photo Focus Foundation (in the color Toffee). I go into greater detail about the foundation below so make sure to scroll below the video to get my full thoughts.
It’s been a few days. I’ve worn the foundation a few times and I have some thoughts.
The first day I wore it (the day of the video) I loved it! It kept me matte the entire time (about 6 hours). It’s not suck-the-life out of you matte. There’s a nice soft matte finish to the foundation. You can see from the video I prepped my face with primer. I also finished off with a setting spray. I wanted to test out the foundation by wearing it the way I normally would. Again, the end result was amazing.
The next day I used the foundation but forgot to use a primer. Boy did that make a difference! If you don’t already know, I have very oily skin. The finish of the foundation was still gorgeous but after about 3 hours I was pretty oily. At that point I blotted the oil from my skin. By the time I got home from work which was 3-4 hours later, I was oily again. So a primer will make all the difference regarding how long the foundation stays matte especially if you are oily.
I am happy to report the foundation did not break up when I blotted the oil down. Nor did it stick to any dry patches or accentuate the little blond hairs on my face. You get 1 fluid ounce. It comes with a spatula applicator. For sanitary purposes I dabbed the product on the back of my hand then applied it to my face.
The spatula picked up the product very well. Oh, I also used 2 application methods. In the video I used a brush. The second day, the day I forgot to prime, I used a beauty blender. The foundation blended out easily with both tools. It did not look cakey and my powder blended out beautifully.
Let’s see, let’s see…..Anything else?….Hmmmmm….There are 20 shades in all. I got mines from Walgreens. I saw a review that mentioned if you purchase the foundation from the Wet n Wild site there are no free returns. Meaning if for some reason you need to return it you will have to pay a return fee.
I think that’s it. If you are interested in the foundation click here. I’ve linked to the Wet n Wild website. It has all the shades listed. Go there, figure out your shade, then see if you can find it elsewhere to avoid that return fee!
I hope this was helpful! Happy makeup hunting……
Until next time.
